The 24th edition of La Marató de TV3 is dedicated to diabetes and obesity, the most common metabolic diseases in Catalonia.

Experts point out that diabetes, which leads to high levels of sugar in the blood, affects about 14% of the population of Catalonia, half of whom are unaware of this.

Obesity is an increasingly frequent problem worldwide, and it cannot be explained only by changes in lifestyle associated with the developed countries. Many of its potential biological and environmental causes, as well as genetic conditioning factors, are still unknown.
